Fisticuffs broke out on the lawn of the Paris Civic Center between Paris, Texas native Johnny LaSalle and French exchange student Françoise Louis. According to eye witnesses, a disagreement between the junior high boys erupted when Louis claimed his Eiffel Tower in France was bigger and taller than the Texas version.
The argument turned violent when Louis made fun of “that silly, tacky cowboy hat” on top of the Texas Eiffel Tower replica. “That’s when I tagged his eye,” LaSalle said. “He went too far when he started making fun of Texas. He even had the nerve to say, “Texas was owned by France before America, but it wasn’t good enough, so we sold it.”
Johnny’s father said he does not condone violence, “but that little French prick really had it coming. I can see why his parents wanted to send him away for a year.”
